On hearing this question, I tend to oppose the statement from this question.
Instead, I contend that people nowadays are more open compared to the people in the past.
And there are several reasons accounting for my statement.
One is that we are living in a world where diversity is highly valued.
Compared to the past the old days, we have more diversified cultures and civilizations. And this is being protected, especially the minority language and their culture.
It is encouraged that people show their different opinions either offline or online as long as it's not against some laws or principles.
Another reason is in terms of the environment where we are in.
The 20 th century has witnessed great changes, among which the biggest one is the occurrence of internet and smartphones.
Nowadays, we have an open online platform to make conversations.
For example, Facebook has been one of the greatest open online community where we can meet friends globally
Therefore, Information can be spread in an open and easy way compared to the situation in the past.
And this is the most democratic practice for all human beings without geographical barriers.
In closing, as the world is becoming flatter, and the hierarchical system is downsizing, people could and they are more open nowadays
