親愛的朋友們，這周的你過得好嗎？成都的夏天永遠都像在桑拿房當中，前段時間據(jù)說是迎來了雨神蕭敬騰的到來，瘋狂地下了幾天大雨，空氣中潮濕而悶熱，希望世界各地的你們還是可以找到生活的樂趣。

本周整理了一下我的Empire影評，Empire雜志是我讀書時就非常喜歡的英國老牌影評雜志，每一期雜志里都有非常劇烈的視覺沖擊力和各路戲劇評論家的大作，能給還在讀書的我打開一扇全新的窗戶。

今天跟大家分享一篇其中最新的一篇英文影評，我們繼續(xù)用庖丁解牛般“細嚼慢咽”來慢慢品讀這樣一份世界級文藝盛宴中的行文用字。

廢話不多說了，來看看這周的知識點吧！

其實，距離《玩具總動員3》上映已經過去了整整12年了，在這12年之間，我給很多人反復推薦過這部動畫片，雖然2019年的時候又出了《玩具總動員4》，雖然第四部在各大平臺上面的打分也不低，但是在我心目中依舊給《玩3》留著“最佳動畫”的位置，那一年帶給我的熒幕震撼完全不亞于第一次看《阿凡達》里的潘多拉星球。

說一個人狂妄自大，自以為是就是cocky啦，英文解釋是：too confident about yourself。其實也是非常好聯(lián)想的意思哈，cock本身就是公雞??，一臉的驕傲自滿，中文里說一個人過于自戀時會說“孔雀開屏”，孔雀在英文中是peacock，也是含有cock的，所以虛榮驕傲便是如是。

#maroon (小學版：isolate）

maroon這個單詞，其實算是中國樂迷的老朋友了，魔力紅樂隊maroon 5就是的名字就含有這個單詞，那它當名詞時的確就是“褐紅色”的意思，但是最喪心病狂的是當動詞的時候，一切就變了，它居然還是“使孤立，放逐到無人島“，英文解釋是：to place or leave in isolation?

#plagued by (小學版：trouble）

plague最常見的意思其實就是“瘟疫”，就是“鼠患”

舉個??：The city is under threat from a plague of rats.

當然了，這里采用了它動詞的意思，也就是指“受困于…“受到了內疚的困擾，所以就是plagued by guilt

Empire例句：Lightyear, and its connection to the world of?Toy Story, sparked confusion the moment it was announced. Is it a spin-off, completely separate from the franchise that began in 1995??

《巴斯正傳》這個戲，以及它與《玩具總動員》世界的聯(lián)系，在它被宣布的那一刻就引發(fā)了困惑。它是一個獨立于1995年開始的系列電影的衍生作品嗎?

#sparked confusion? (小學版：question)

引發(fā)疑惑，spark作為名詞是導火線、火花，引申出動詞的引發(fā)、觸發(fā)的含義。

#spin-off（小學版：by-product)

衍生品或者副產品，英文解釋也很直觀：a book, a film/movie, a television programme, or an object that is based on a book，其實就是基于某本書或者電視電影的再創(chuàng)作。spin本身是“快速旋轉”，你也可以簡單記成基于原著這個根基上面，off下來也就是掉落下來的東西，就是“衍生品”了。

#the franchise?

本意是“特許經營權”，在影評中的常見意思是“系列作品”

Empire例句：Is it based on a real-life astronaut in the?Toy Story?universe, meaning Andy, Woody and the like live in a time where we’ve achieved intergalactic space travel? inter-這個前綴就是“之間”，galactic就是“星際的”，合在一起就是“星際之間”

Empire例句：The star of the show, though, is Peter Sohn’s Sox, Buzz’s ‘Personal Companion Robot’, assigned to him by Alisha after his efforts to get the crew home lead to some unexpected timey-wimey effects. Sox is an adorable, quick-witted genius, and Sohn’s deadpan delivery is excellent. Plus, he spins his head round and says “meow meow meow” a lot.

這個短語可實在是太妙不可言了，英國血統(tǒng)的Empire雜志非常喜歡使用這個單詞，因為它來自于一部著名英劇《神秘博士》當中，其實也就是中文所說的“穿越”。原話是男主經常說：Wibbily Wobbly timey wimey。

Empire例句：If Sox is Buzz’s C-3PO, Emperor Zurg is his Darth Vader. His presence is heard and felt before he’s seen, but the use of him as a villain doesn’t fully land. The script works hard to give Zurg an identity that feels like a cohesive partof the story, as well as making him a fearsome antagonist, but his motivations never seem aligned to his actions, and he’s the film’s most forgettable element.

如果說機器貓Sox是巴斯光年的C-3PO（《星球大戰(zhàn)》系列中的禮儀機器人），那么大魔王Zurg就是他的黑武士。在他被看到之前，他就已經存在感滿滿了，但將他作為一個反派人物卻并沒有完全立起來。劇本努力讓大魔王Zurg成為了電影的核心部分，同時也讓他成為一個可怕的對手，但他的動機似乎與他的行動并不一致，他是電影中最容易被遺忘的元素。
