【雅思口語(yǔ) 5-8月】注意力 ? Concentration

Did you stay focused in class when you were a child?
No, I had a really short attention span?back then. At first I could concentrate just fine, but then halfway through the class I’d just?zone out ?and my mind?started to wander off somewhere else.?
It got really bad in the afternoon when I got this food coma?from lunch and became so sleepy?that I even dozed off?occasionally and got?told off for it.
Are you a focused person?
It really depends on what I’m doing. If it’s some mundane task?like doing household chores, then I could get so?absent-minded and easily distracted.?
But if it’s something fun like a new video game, then I could probably sit for hours on end, with my?eyes glued on?the computer screen.
Also when there’s something due tomorrow, I could focus so intensely on the task at hand and become super productive for fear of missing the deadline.?
How do you stay focused?
I start my day with a cup of coffee. Caffeine?keeps me energized and alert, and that helps me focus my attention.
Another way for me is to?eat light. A large meal high in carbs and sugar?could spike my blood sugar level?and give me this terrible brain fog?that makes focusing extremely difficult.?
Is it easy to stay focused in a noisy environment?
I think it varies from person to person. Some people, myself included, are more?sensitive to?loud noises than others. And for us it could be?an annoying source of distraction.

But some people could just miraculously tune out the noisy surroundings. Take my friend Mary. She could read books on the subway with all the people talking and baby crying. It’s incredible!
