The gown design is inspired by the colors of the ocean, which symbolize the geographical location of Qingdao near the sea. The different academic levels are differentiated by distinct shades of blue, representing deeper academic and research achievements.The school emblem of Beijing Jiaotong University is embroidered with golden thread on the left chest, adding a beautiful and appealing touch. The pattern on the cuffs combines the school's motto, "Knowledge and Practice," with flowing lines, symbolizing the graduate's ambitious and promising start at the school, now carrying the expectations of the nation.

The front of the gown is made of brocade fabric, with the year of the Renmin University of China's founding "1937" and the school's main buildings during different periods chosen as the design motif from top to bottom, embodying the school's historical development and cultural heritage.The university has also customized a unique commemorative badge for each graduating student, featuring a cluster of magnolia flowers above the emblem of the Renmin University of China and the student’s name and ID number inscribed on the metal plate below, symbolizing each graduate's individual glory and honor.
