英國藍(lán)調(diào)/英國布魯斯（British Blues）是指的從美國傳入英國后發(fā)展的布魯斯音樂。在1950年代末至1960年代初，早期的British Blues嚴(yán)格遵照美國布魯斯音樂的原型依葫蘆畫瓢，這也是為了向那些布魯斯前輩致敬。

而到了1960年代中期的布魯斯音樂復(fù)興時(shí)期，英國的由EricClapton為代表的一批吉他手們開始嘗試革新，將 B.B.King、Albert King和Freddie King音樂中的熱情的吉他弦和放到極致的拾音器結(jié)合，也慢慢演變?yōu)楹髞淼牟剪斔箵u滾（Blues Rock），也讓the RollingStones和Eric Clapton等布魯斯音樂人成為巨星。

More than a mere geographical distinction, the early British Bluesof the late '50s and early '60s paid strict adherence to replicating Americanblues genres, with an admiration for its originators bordering on reverence.But by the time of the blues revival of the mid-'60s, British guitarists -- inthe main led by Eric Clapton -- were starting to bend the form to create theirown amalgam.

Wedding the string-bending fervor of the B.B., Albert, and FreddieKing styles to the extreme volume produced by large amplifiers, British blueslargely coalesced into blues rock, with formerly traditional blues artists likethe Rolling Stones and Clapton becoming rock stars.

The British style hasperhaps the closest ties to rock music as opposed to rock & roll, adistinct stylistic descendant of the 1950s. It is this constant shift betweenpreserving older styles and mainstreaming it into the pop marketplace that isthe hallmark of British blues.
