A few days later, Ms. Elizabeth almost recovered from what could be life-claiming injury.

“Well, do you want to see the human kid I mentioned?”?asked Le sheng.

“Uh, I feel strange about this. Anyway, I’ll take a look. Let’s go then.” Uttered Miss Elizabeth.

And so they headed for the mental?hospital. Located in the rather distant part of the city, the hospital was more like a jail, surrounded by shattered?houses that had not been occupied for decades. Tress growing vigorously and birds crying miserably, the spot just did not remind anyone of any kind of mental relief . Instead, it was more like a haunted location usually shown in thrillers.

“The government just don’t pay much attention to the reconstruction of the hospital. As you?can see, the place hasn’t been repaired since it was first built. The patients here, as far as I know, mostly are kids who are?given up?by their parents or adults with sorrowful life stories…” mumbled Le Sheng in a low voice.

Soon they were there: Room 313 at the corner. Knock, knock. Strange, the door was open automatically. Into their sight came a little girl with pure black shoulder-length hair, her back facing them.

“It’s me.”

The girl turned her head, staring at the man and the lady before her with eyes immersed in intense darkness, a kind of genuine?vacancy .

“See? Who’s this?” asked Le Sheng.

The girl kept silent, lips sticking with each other tightly. Her pale face seemed frozen without blood running under its skin.

“Well, my name is Shuang Ye. Nice meet you.” Miss Elizabeth introduced herself, a wave of awkwardness sweeping through. How can a kid be so quiet? She wondered.

The little girl, or Yue’er(happiness), sat like a stone statue, watching the good-looking lady with curly blonde hair.

“Don’t feel like saying anything today? Never mind. Well, what about your mom? ”

She shivered violently for a second.

At this very moment, the door opened. In came a middle age woman. No sooner had she saw the two than she burst out shouting furiously. Who are you guys? It is you who brought misfortune to us! Just die off!

“Ma’am, we are her friends. Isn’t it normal for friends to attend to each other when in need? Given that you are busy most of the time, I am afraid that we could make her feel less lonely.”

“What the hell are you jerk saying? Friends? Never before has she had a single friend! Don’t regard yourself as the one to save the world! Do you really think that I want to raise this troublesome little one? Huh?”

It was not exaggeration to describe to woman as a monster. Her hair pointed at the ceiling while her eyes widened with terrifying rage, which could kill a person cruelly,

Yue’er kept shivering while listening to those words, her frozen face demonstrated an expression of fear for the very first time, with sight falling on Le Sheng.

“Well, we’ll leave then.” Le Sheng smiled and stepped out the room, Miss Elizabeth following,

With the setting sun casting the last golden rays, night fell like a large layer of quilt, covering everything on earth, and leaving mysterious darkness. Light had been gnawed away, and a sense of unfamiliarity emerged out of nowhere. Sky turned dark blue, and violet, finally entirely dark black-the color of night. And that was exactly what the inner heart of the little girl was like: over the years she had been wandering in the ever-lasting gloomy night, unable to capture a single ray of vigorous hope.

It was said that the little girl witnessed her family break apart when her mother divorced with her father, who seemed so distant and unrealistic in her hazy memory. Out of some unknown reason, someday she lost her interest in almost everything, her world becoming grey and dim, without any vigor. And eventually she was sent to this mental care center. She could never remember how long she had been there accurately. She didn’t care. Sometimes she just wanted to escape from this bizarre and absurd world full of unhappy memories. But when awake, she knew that such a thing was?just a joke, she was not any kind of anime character who could transfer himself into another universe. Still, she loved to dive into her own world created by herself, a world of imagination and fantasy, though colorless and deserted.?

Doctors and nurses were concerned that she would no longer connect herself with the realistic world. After all, no one knew what she was thinking about. She refused to accept any further possible harm from the world around her.

It was not long before she feel another sense of horror, since she came to find herself lack of significance, or say, the meaning of being alive. Furthermore, she found it unacceptable that the relationship between her and her mom was worsening day by day. Maybe mom does not love me, she thought. Soon she filled herself with hatred about everything, including her own life.

It’s obvious that she was suffering from depression. She ran out of the hospital one day(nobody knew how she managed to do that)?and that was the time when she encountered Le Sheng. Surely Le Sheng knew nothing about mental care, but he do showed her another aspect of the world, which is full of incredible immortal?creatures and?mind-blowing fairy tales, by sharing his own experiences concerning ghosts and monsters. But just now, Lesheng had gone, leaving her alone. She could no longer bear any kind of losing, ?

Having seen her mother off, she stood up, headed towards the windows, and reached her leg out.?

With a swift kick, she went falling to the ground, like a comet dashing through the night sky .

Just one second before she crashed to the ground, a shadow went rushing towards her at a speed of flash. The girl felt something carrying her and taking her to the atmosphere.

Widening her eyes, she recognized the familiar face a few inches away—it was Miss Elizabeth. Surprised, she held her breath, observing the beautiful lady who had just saved her life.

Having landed at the gate of Hu Zhai, Miss Elizabeth carefully settled her on the ground.

“Sorry, but I just can’t see you die before me. By the way, as you have seen, I am nothing like human. I am… ”Her voice became weak.

“A vampire!”?Yelled Le Sheng coming out from the wooden door.

“Hey, you’ll scare her.”?Complained Miss Elizabeth.

But the little girl hardly conveyed lightest fear.?Staring at Miss Elizabeth, she slowly forced some words out:
