漢語中使役動詞較少，因此我們在平時的口語和寫作中習(xí)慣于使用“make somebody do

something”，而想不到使用英語使役動詞，其實英語中有許多使役動詞，這里僅列舉部

分使役動詞，以期達到拋磚引玉效果。

1. lose?vt?使（某人）損失

a. Such insolence will?lose?you your situation.

如此無禮的態(tài)度將會使你失去你的職位。

b.This remark?lost?him our sympathy. 此話使我們對他失去了同情心。

2. work?vt?使工作；使活動；

a. The employer?worked?me nearly to death. 老板讓我累到幾乎快死了。

b. Don’t?work?him too hard. 不要讓他工作太累。

3. absorb vt 使全神貫注

a. His business?absorbs?him. 他的業(yè)務(wù)使他全神貫注。(他全神貫注于他的業(yè)務(wù)。)

b. He?was absorbed?in a book. 他全神貫注于一本書。

4. absent vt 使缺席

Why did you?absent?yourself from school yesterday?

5. sleep vt 為（某些人）提供住宿

a.This hotel?sleeps?300 guests. 這家旅館可以容納 300 名房客。

b. Studios?sleeping?two people cost ￡70 a night. 兩人公寓房每晚 70 英鎊。

6. accommodate vt 供給住宿

The hotel can?accommodate?600 guests. 這家旅館可以容納 600 名房客。

7. seat vt 有座位；可容納…的座位

a.The hall?seats/ will seat 200.這個大廳有 200 人的座位。（大廳可容納 200 人。）

b. a seating plan for the dinner guest. 晚宴嘉賓的座位安排。

c. the seating capacity of the hall. 大廳的容納能力。

8. accustom vt 使習(xí)慣于

become/ be accustomed to. 習(xí)慣于。

9. acclimatize : vt 使（自己、動物、植物等）習(xí)慣于新的氣候

You will soon get acclimatized. 你會很快適應(yīng)的。

10. condition vt 使適應(yīng)；使受影響；使習(xí)慣于
