Today, the quality life of people in big cities is getting worse.

What are the causes of this problem? Any measures should be taken to solve it?

We take urbanization for granted nowadays, but the truth is that the quality of life for people in metropolises keeps on falling recently.

Some problems such as air contamination and housing issues might arise from this, and possible solutions will be discussed in this essay.

There is a wide range of reasons why living conditions of city dwellers are presently being threatened.

The most obvious one is that due to the air pollution, the number of patients who suffer from respiratory problems is increasing.That is to say, as there are more private cars on the road, toxic gases exhausted from these vehicles have lead to severe air contamination.

Besides, another cause is emotional and financial anxieties associated with the high housing prices.As more migrant workers move to cities, the amount of houses offered is actually less than the consuming demand, thus resulting in the skyrocketing house price.“Salves of The Houses”, invented by citizens nowadays, is a vivid proof of this phenomenon.

To enhance urban lives’ qualities, there are several solutions to attack the problems.

Government needs to pour money into building more public transportation facilities to reduce the amount of private cars, especially in rush hours.More metro lines, for example, can be built to reduce congestion and air contamination.

In addition, cheap state houses financed by authorities are expected to be built in high-density neighborhood to meet residents’ needs.This may not only help solve the housing problem, but also raise the happiness index of those who live in cities.

Other measures such as free-interest loan provided by banks could also be considered into helping urbanite to buy houses with mortgages.
