What will happen to people who have no ambition in life?

However, after a while of futile attempts, reality struck me and I realized that with both my parents ageing, I had to do something for the income in the family (dad’s retired, mom’s a housewife).
So, I started working small jobs to earn money. Those while are enough to cover the family expense, cannot be written to much benefit on a CV.
I had to move back to my home country, where nobody cares for my degrees since think it’s inferior.
3–4 years back, I had a lot of plans and ambitions. Now, I have nothing.
I myself am fed up of trying. It’s not that I have failed (maybe I have, however), it’s just that I don’t care about anything anymore.

Pedro Mendes de Araujo
I believe everybody, to some degree, has ambitions of some sort. What changes from person to person, is that while some have ambitions that include career, education, or monetary success, others have different ones, which are adjusted to what they have already gone through in life. But this, as a matter of fact, is a very complex question because what you're asking does not concern ambitions only, but the whole idea of human future, perceived by the human mind.
A person might be afraid to try new things; hence they won't be much ambitious. A person might think they're entitled to failure; hence they won't give their ambitions a try, and won't be much ambitious. A person might think that they've done enough for someone their age, and decide to retire/settle, and won't be much ambitious.
But be careful, because a person's ambitions aren't easily perceived by an outside observer. They are exclusive and private to each and every person. It's one of the innate qualities of the human being; to dream. You might not see much from someone who works from 9 to 5 in a store, but who knows? Maybe they dream of becoming an artist, maybe, they are practicing an instrument when they are not working hard to earn their living; maybe they have ambitions, just like you, or even higher than you. Many people like to hide their ambitions, which is often common among people with low self-esteem, but do not be mistaken; even such people have dreams, ambitions and desires for their future, even if they won't share them with you. That's their personal secret.

It depends what you mean by “no ambition”…
There are couple people that I can think of whom I know who have “no ambition” in a classical understanding of this term. They are always relaxed, calm, thinking how to manage things in such a way that it would take the least possible effort. They are doing relatively well in their careers but not because they proactively seek opportunities on the contrary they seem quite inert, but they are reliable, and they found their niche and that made them unique specialists. They turn down offers with a higher salary and higher responsibility level. Because they value life balance. All their promotions in the start of their career triggered some resistance in them, they worryied they would loose their freedom. But they ended up just fine I would say. Life treated them kind. Of course they are smart and educated. Both tolerant with people not extraverts, but friendly. Their life motto “enjoy”. And they followed their motto. They picked for their career something they really enjoy doing and they are happy at work.
Were they ambitious? Somebody would say like not career ambitious. But their primary goal was balance, living in harmony with themselves and people and they were consistent with that goal and they reached it, and that what happened to them due to lack of career ambition. They made their choices based on their core values and are happy with their lives despite some missed career opportunities.
But no ambition at all is different. I think they may feel lost, may feel confused and not grounded.

They will die full of regrets and perhaps with victim mentality. I think being ambitious it’s different from being motivated. It’s a habit that you have to develop. But you have to understand these five core principles:
1- Life is NOT EASY OR FAIR. And do not think for a second you’re entitled to something. We always try our best but don’t do our best. Do NOT fall into victim mentality.
2-Find your IDENTITY. know who you are NOT. The easiest way to figure out who you are is to define yourself by who you are not.
3- Get rid of excess. Decrease your options and you will face what is important to you.
4-Take calculated Risks. You see “nothing in life is worthwhile unless you take risks”. You have to start trusting and believing in yourself. If you don’t believe in you, no one will.
5- You must Fail. I have to yet meet a person who has learned from his/her success. You learn and grow by failing. It’s important to fail in life. Otherwise you will never grow. You must understand failure is part of your success.
Apply all these principles to answer these two questions if you want to take the first step towards an ambitious life. WHAT IS SUCCESS TO YOU? WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU IN LIFE?
Good luck.

Elizabeth Rebolledo, School of Life at The Universe (1967-present)
Sadly, there are a lot of people that have no ambition. I feel like some people just don't give life too much thought and I say this because prior to 6 years ago, I had no real ambition.
Upon receiving many useful life tips and a spiritual awakening everything about me changed, whereas prior to this experience, I had no clue about a lot of things. I was merely existing and didn't really think about the huge world out there. I discovered talents I never knew I had and also enhanced the ones I did have.
People that have no ambitions will inevitably live very bland unexciting lives…a total waste, but to each his own.

Rajesh Gopinathan, Personal interest specifically in human behaviour in Organisational setup
A thoughtless mind and ambitionless existence does not exist in humans since it is Godly.
As all of have thoughts , though of different nature in every mind , similarly the nature of ambition is different for different people.
My wife's grand father of 97 yrs is growing weaker everyday , can't hear or see properly, does not have much control over his bodily functions, cannot eat food without help but once when he was in slightly better shape some one asked him what he wants , he said he wants to live past 100. That is his ambition.
My kids ambition is be able to convince us to allow him to play till late everyday , our ambition at the same time is to make him study more so that he gets straight A . My parent's ambition few years back was to see their grand child, now they want to see him grow and spend more and more time with him.
We all have ambitions, the correct question will be; WHAT ?

Timothy Marc Lechowicz, 42 years reading and studying random things.
It really depends on how you define "ambition." Not all people want to be CEOs, and there's nothing wrong with that. For someone, just being able to survive day to day is sufficient. In reality, that's all that's required for someone to be considered "successful."
You shouldn't define people by your worldview. You might believe that ambition means "I want to eventually own my own business." And that's a great ambition in life. But since not everyone else wants to own their own business, it's unfair of you to suggest they lack ambition. It's simply that they define ambition differently than you do.

It is sad to come across such people in life. I have come across a few so I understand what is in their heads.
It is definitely a serious case, the person doesnt value herself or himself. They don't realize that life is so beautiful. Pass on some positivity to her\\\\\\\\him. Be considerate and compassionate to the person.
It is very clear the person is either very depressed or confused. She\\\\\\\\he has no directions on what to do next in life, be a good friend and reading helps a lot. It opens minds.
Physical activities increases happy hormones in the body, and you start looking at positive things of life.
If it is a very severe case of depression, they need some treatment - counseling or medication or the best is yoga and meditation or spirituality where they can see their own souls and start loving themselves, they will find a meaning or purpose of their lives.

很明顯,這個人不是很沮喪就是很困惑。他對人生下一步該做什么沒有方向,需要成為一個他的好朋友,讓他們知道閱讀對自身很有幫助,能夠開闊自身的眼界;

Ruth Binder, I'm an observer of myself and others
It all depends on the experiences that said person has and how they choose regarding them. There is absolutely no way to say what will happen to a person with no ambition. This person could end up happier or in touch with more joy than the person with tons of ambition. It's all in the choices, which may or may not have anything to do with ambition.

Kim Hoole, former Retired at Telecomunications Engineer (1981-2002)
You have to see a future for yourself to want to chase it sum dont see it its depression I've been there it's a hole thats hard to climb out of and hard for someone thats never been there to imagine very empty very foreboding and if the person for a moment realises where there at very scary what happens to these people has a lot to do with how much support they get and not many people want to be around them because there depressing so give what you can when you can and you'll be a better person for that

Ray Walker, Sr. Software Architect (2004-present)
I dislike ambition—defined as chasing outwardly measurable success—but not necessarily ambitious people. That is to say, I don’t like what ambition encourages otherwise good people to do in the name of ubiquitous approval and validation. Effort is its own reward. Effort is a form of ambition, too, but it’s the need for public approval that ruins more than it helps. It is that kind of ambition I deplore and will not engage in. (That is how one can be immune to any financial scam. Can’t take the bait if you’re not interested in financial reward, which I am not.)
I’m more in agreement with Richard Feynman on this point: “The prize is the pleasure of finding a thing out, the kick in the discovery— those are the real things. The honors are unreal to me. I don’t believe in honors.”

Virali Modi, Life happens when you're busy making plans.
No. I find people without ambition quite boring. If you don't have a goal you're working towards, life seems extremely bland.
Life is all about the adventure, challenges, despair, and triumph. If you don't have a crazy ambition or a goal to look forward to, your life is going to be meaningless, according to me.
It's always healthy to be ambitious, it keeps you alive.
